Ana is a Colombian visual artist based in Brooklyn, New York, working across experimental photography, printmaking, text, and installation to investigate how repressed aspects of the psyche can be uncovered, deconstructed, and reconfigured. Her practice incorporates participatory frameworks to collectively engage with the complexities of shame, trauma, and other marginalized aspects of the self.
Drawing on psychoanalysis, neuroscience, and feminist theory, she examines how moral codes, power dynamics, and violence replicate across generations, and how capitalism and patriarchy perpetuate oppressive cycles that disproportionately harm women, minorities, and LGBTQI people.
Her work has been exhibited at PhotoVogue (Milan), PHmuseum Days (Italy), Month of Photography (Los Angeles), FOAM (Amsterdam), and Athens Photo Festival, among others, and she is represented by Punctum Gallery in Estonia.
In 2021, she was selected as a Foam Talent, received the Excellence in Multimedia Storytelling award from the Center for Photography at Santa Fe, and earned first prize in the PHmuseum Women Photographers Grant. She has served as a juror for the En Foco Fellowship and Fotógrafas Latam.
